A friend of mine told me that she had to read the book wonder for school and she really liked it so I read it to. It’s a very emotional book. 

The book is about a boy called August. August is a 10 year old boy who’s suffering from severe birth defects, that’s why he is disfigured. He got homeschooled for years. His parents decided that he had to go to a school called Beecher Prep. August is terrified. He doesn’t want to go to a real school. He is scared that he will get bullied. The first day is a disaster he ands up sitting alone at lunchtime. In the book you go through the live of August. 

The author is R.J Palacio. She is an American author. She is born on 13 July, 1963. She is 55 years old. She won the good reads choice award best picture books. 

August is a ten year old boy. He loves Xbox, his dog, his sister and he really likes Star Wars. Auggie has had twenty seven surgeries. The way he looks makes people stare, with he’s used to. It also makes it hard for him to hear. And sometimes it’s hard to tell he is smiling. 

Via is Auggie’s older sister and a freshman at Faulkner High School. She sometimes feels like she’s not as important to her family as Auggie is. She is very protective of her brother Auggie, she is a great sister and friend to him. 

Jack will is one of Auggie’s first friends at Beecher Prep. He and Auggie have six classes together. They become really good friends. 

Summer is a popular girl, but she doesn’t always do what the other popular girls do. She sits with Auggie at lunch. She and Auggie only have one class together, English, but they eat lunch together every day and they also hang out a lot after school. 

Julian is one of Auggie’s biggest obstacles at Beecher prep. He is rude to Auggie and he makes other kids feel like they have to be, too. 

Charlotte is one of the smartest kids in her grade, which makes other kids think she’s a nerdy. She is friendly to everyone. She doesn’t choose sides at school. 

Christopher has been Auggie’s best friends since they were little. He moved to Bridgeport, so they don’t see each other very much now. 

I liked the book. It was easy to read. I don’t think I would recommend it because it got a little boring at the end. I do think the topic is good. It’s good to let people know that we can’t choose how we look like
